General Questions
How fast can you get to my job?
We answer the phone 24/7 and set up the estimate around your schedule. Once you approve the written quote, we give you a real date based on the season and the size of the job. Storm damage and trees on structures go to the front of the line through our emergency tree service.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We come out, look at the job with you, give you a verbal estimate on the spot, and follow up with a written quote by text or email. No fee, no pressure.
What areas do you serve?
Carmel is home, and we work throughout Hamilton County and the north side of Indianapolis, including Westfield, Zionsville, Whitestown, Sheridan, Fishers, and Noblesville, plus Indianapolis neighborhoods like Broad Ripple, Nora, and Meridian Hills, and over to Speedway. See our service area page for the full list.
Do you work with commercial properties and HOAs?
Yes. Property managers, HOAs, small businesses, builders, and general contractors use us for tree work, seasonal cleanups, mulching, lot clearing, and snow. The process is the same as for homeowners: on-site quote, written price, scheduled work.
Is there a minimum job size?
No job is too small. One limb over the driveway, a single stump, or a couple of beds that need mulch are all jobs we are happy to take.
Do you take the wood away after a tree removal?
Your choice. We haul everything off, or we cut the trunk and larger limbs to length and stack them for your fire pit at no charge. Delivery outside Hamilton County carries a fee. Details are on our tree removal page.
Do you work year-round?
Yes. Tree work runs all year, landscaping runs spring through fall, and snow plowing and salting keep the trucks busy in winter.
How do you price tree removal?
By height, trunk diameter, and access. Our starting prices are $1,400 for trees under 30 feet, $2,500 for 30 to 60 feet, and $4,000 for trees over 60 feet, with the exact number confirmed in writing after we see the tree.
Can you plow my driveway and salt it too?
Yes. Most winter customers have us plow and then salt in the same visit, and we offer a pet- and plant-friendly deicing option. Start on our snow plowing page.
Do you haul junk from inside the house?
Yes. Basements, garages, attics, and spare rooms. We carry it out and load it; you do not lift anything. Hazardous items and certain appliances are handled separately, and the junk removal page lists what we can and cannot take.
How do I pay?
We invoice after the work is complete. On larger projects we may ask for a partial payment along the way, which we explain in the written quote. You receive a final receipt when the job is done.
What happens when I call?
A real person answers, we set up a time to look at the job, and you get a verbal estimate on site followed by a written quote. If you are not home for the walkthrough, we call or FaceTime you from the yard.
Questions about
Tree Services
What is included in a tree service quote?
Everything we discussed on site: the cutting, hauling, and cleanup. If you want to keep the wood, we leave it cut to length at no charge. Stump grinding is quoted separately so you can decide whether you want it.
Do you do tree work and landscaping on the same visit?
Often, yes. Plenty of customers have us take a tree down and then clean up the beds or spread fresh mulch while the trucks are already there.
How far will you travel for a tree job?
Carmel is home base, and we regularly work in Westfield, Zionsville, Whitestown, Sheridan, Fishers, Noblesville, and Indianapolis. Farther out, just ask.
Do you handle commercial properties?
Yes. HOAs, small businesses, property managers, and builders call us for the same tree services homeowners do.
Questions about
Tree Removal
How much does tree removal cost?
Our tree removal prices start at $1,400 for trees under 30 feet, $2,500 for 30 to 60 feet, and $4,000 for trees over 60 feet. Diameter and access change the final number, and you get it in writing before we schedule.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?
It depends on your town and whether the tree is in a right-of-way or protected area. We will tell you what we know about your address, and you can confirm with your city before the work is scheduled.
Can I keep the wood?
Yes, and it is free. We cut it to length and leave it stacked where you want it. Delivery to addresses outside Hamilton County has a delivery fee.
How long does a tree removal take?
Most single-tree removals are done in a few hours. Large trees or tight access can take most of a day. We tell you what to expect when we quote it.
Do you remove the stump too?
We can. Stump grinding is quoted as an add-on so you can decide whether you want the stump gone or would rather leave it.
Questions about
Stump Removal
Is stump grinding better than stump removal?
For nearly every yard, yes. Grinding is faster, leaves a much smaller hole, and costs less. Full removal only makes sense when the ground is being excavated anyway.
How deep do you grind?
Several inches below grade, deep enough to seed grass or lay sod over the spot. If you plan to plant a new tree in the same place, tell us and we will grind deeper.
What happens to the grindings?
We use them to backfill the hole and rake the area level. If you would rather have them hauled away, we can do that too; cleanup and haul-off is quoted as its own line.
Can I plant over a ground stump?
Grass, yes, right away. For a new tree or shrub, it is best to remove most of the grindings and bring in topsoil, which we can do as part of the job.
How much does stump grinding cost?
Stumps 12 to 24 inches across usually run $250–$400, and 25 to 50 inches run $500–$700, measured at ground level. Grindings cleanup and haul-off is quoted separately, multiple stumps are cheaper per stump, and you get the number in writing before scheduling.
Questions about
Tree Trimming & Pruning
What is the difference between trimming and pruning?
Trimming is the larger-scale safety and clearance work on big trees. Pruning is the smaller, health-focused work on ornamentals and fruit trees. We do both.
When is the best time to trim trees?
Late winter for most species, while the tree is dormant. Dead or dangerous limbs can be removed any time of year.
Can you over-prune a tree?
Yes, and it is the most common mistake we see. Removing too much canopy at once stresses the tree. We take what is needed and plan the rest for a later season.
Can you trim branches away from my roof or power lines?
Roofs, gutters, siding, and driveways, yes. Branches touching utility lines need the utility company involved first, and we will tell you when that is the case.
How much does tree trimming cost?
Per tree, canopy raising runs $250–$750, thinning $300–$1,200, and pruning or deadwooding $300–$800, depending on height and how much comes off. We confirm the number after an on-site look, in writing, before we schedule.
Questions about
Emergency Tree Services
What counts as a tree emergency?
Anything touching a structure, hanging over an area people use, or blocking access. If you are unsure, call and we will help you decide.
How fast can you get here?
We answer the phone 24/7 and dispatch as soon as a truck is free. During a widespread storm we prioritize trees on houses and blocked driveways, and we will tell you honestly where you are in line.
A tree is on a power line. Who do I call?
Your utility company first. They make the line safe, and then we handle the tree. Never approach a tree touching a line.
Will insurance cover emergency tree removal?
Many homeowner policies cover removal when a tree damages a structure. We provide photos and an itemized invoice for your claim, but coverage is between you and your insurer.
Questions about
Landscaping Services
What landscaping services do you offer?
Spring and fall cleanups, mulching and decorative stone, grass seeding and sod installation, grading and leveling, leaf removal, and lot clearing. We do not do weekly mowing.
Can you do tree work and landscaping in one visit?
Yes, and it is usually cheaper that way. Our tree services and landscaping crews share trucks and schedules.
Do you work with commercial properties?
Yes. HOAs, property managers, small businesses, and builders use us for seasonal cleanups, mulching, and lot clearing.
How do I get a landscaping quote?
Call or text us or use the estimate form. We visit, give you a number on site, and follow up in writing.
Questions about
Leaf Removal
Do you offer one-time leaf removal or recurring visits?
Both. One late-season visit works for most yards. Heavily treed lots often benefit from two passes.
Do you just take leaves to the curb, or haul them away?
We haul them away. If your town offers curbside leaf pickup and you prefer that, we can pile at the curb instead.
What do you do with the leaves?
They are hauled off site and disposed of with our other yard waste.
When should I book leaf removal?
Book by mid-October. Late October through November fills fast, and waiting until everything is down is fine as long as you are on the schedule.
How much does leaf removal cost?
Flat rate, small yards run $300–$450 and large lots with mature trees $500–$950 per visit. Or choose the hourly option at $100 per man-hour with the dump trip included. Either way you get it in writing before we come out.
Questions about
Spring & Fall Cleanups
What is included in a spring cleanup?
Debris removal from lawn and beds, cutting back perennials and grasses, bed edging, hedge and shrub trimming, and haul-away. Mulch can be added to the same visit.
What is included in a fall cleanup?
Cutting back perennials, a final hedge trim, clearing leaves and debris from beds and hardscape, and haul-away. Heavily treed lots may want a separate leaf pass.
Do you trim hedges and shrubs?
Yes, it is part of every cleanup. We shape them to their natural form and time flowering shrubs so you keep next year's blooms.
Do you mulch too?
Yes. Most spring cleanups finish with fresh mulch, and it is cheaper to do it in the same visit.
How long does a yard cleanup take?
Most residential cleanups take a few hours. Large lots or yards that have gone a few seasons can take a full day.
Questions about
Seeding & Sodding
Should I seed or sod?
Seed is cheaper and offers more grass choices but takes weeks to fill in. Sod is instant and better on slopes and front yards. We often recommend a mix.
Is grading included with seeding?
No. Grading and leveling are quoted separately because not every yard needs them. If yours does, we will show you why.
Is straw included?
Yes. Every seeding job includes straw cover to hold moisture and protect the seed, plus starter fertilizer.
How often should I water new seed or sod?
Lightly and often at first, usually daily for the first couple of weeks, then less often and deeper. We leave written instructions for your specific job.
How much does seeding or sod cost?
Seeding is $0.90 per sq ft with straw and starter fertilizer included, sod is $2.10 per sq ft installed, and grading, when needed, runs $1.25–$2.00 per sq ft. We measure on site and quote in writing before scheduling.
Questions about
Mulching & Stone Spreading
How much does mulch cost per yard?
Hardwood mulch installed starts at $190 per yard, including bed cleanup and manual edging. Premium mulches add $10 to $15 per yard.
What is premium mulch?
Dyed and specialty blends that hold color longer or match a specific look. They cost slightly more per yard.
What colors do you carry?
Black and brown hardwood mulch are standard. Ask about other options when we quote.
Do you install river rock and weed fabric?
Yes. River rock runs $245 per yard and decorative stone like lava rock or granite $460–$520 per yard, and every stone installation includes weed fabric underneath so the rock stays clean.
How much mulch do I need?
We measure your beds on site and tell you. A typical two- to three-inch layer is what most beds need.
Questions about
Lot Clearing
Do you remove brush and saplings?
Yes. Brush removal along edges and cutting out saplings is the heart of most lot clearing jobs.
What is bush hogging?
Mowing tall grass, weeds, and light brush with a heavy rotary cutter. It is the fastest way to knock down an overgrown field or lot.
Do you do storm cleanup?
Yes. Downed limbs, broken trees, and scattered debris are cleared and hauled. Trees on structures start as an emergency call.
How big a lot can you clear?
From a fence line to several acres. Most jobs run $3,000–$4,000 per day for the crew and equipment, or we can set a flat rate once we walk the lot with you.
Do you haul everything away?
Yes. Brush, limbs, and debris are loaded and taken off site. If you want firewood left behind, tell us.
Questions about
Junk Removal
What do you take?
Furniture, appliances, yard waste, construction debris, tires, playsets, hot tubs, and general household junk. If you are not sure, send a photo.
What don't you take?
Chemicals, liquids, paint, batteries, motors, and hazardous materials. Refrigerators, freezers, stoves, microwaves, and outdoor power tools go through a scrapper and are handled separately.
Do you remove junk from inside the house?
Yes. Basements, spare rooms, attics, and garages. We carry it out; you do not lift anything.
Do you take yard waste?
Yes. Brush, limbs, old fencing, and landscaping debris are all fair game, and we can pair it with a cleanup.
How is junk removal priced?
Single items run $100–$500 depending on size and location, and full loads $250–$800 depending on volume and weight. You get a number in writing before we start.
Questions about
Snow Plowing
Do you plow residential driveways or just commercial lots?
Both. Most of our plowing is residential driveways and sidewalks, with small commercial lots and entrances as well.
When do you come out?
Once accumulation reaches the trigger depth we agree on, we start our route. Larger storms may mean more than one pass.
Do you haul the snow away?
No. We plow and push snow to an agreed spot on your property. We do not haul it off site.
Do you shovel sidewalks and steps?
Yes. Walks, steps, entrances, decks, and patios are cleared by hand.
Do you offer a seasonal contract?
Yes. You can pay per push, $80–$150 per push for most driveways, or arrange a seasonal price. Storms over 4 inches are priced differently, and we will explain both options when we quote.
Questions about
Winter Salt Spreading
Can you salt a new driveway?
We do not recommend it. Concrete less than a year old can flake and pit from deicing salt. We plow and shovel new driveways carefully and skip the salt unless you ask for a gentler product.
Do you have a pet-friendly or plant-friendly option?
Yes. It costs more than standard salt, and we will quote both so you can choose.
Do you salt without plowing?
Yes. Freezing rain and refreeze days often call for salt alone, and we run those as stand-alone visits.
When do you salt?
Right after we plow, or when ice is in the forecast. Timing matters more than quantity.
How much does salting cost?
Driveway and sidewalk salting runs $55–$125 per application, and commercial lots $150–$400 by size. The pet- and plant-friendly product is priced higher. You get the number in writing before the season.
